Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park – Boat Safari on the Rufiji River
Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and a road transfer to Nyerere National Park, formerly part of the Selous Game Reserve. As the largest national park in Africa, Nyerere is famed for its remote wilderness, diverse wildlife, and the iconic Rufiji River, a lifeline of the ecosystem.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a boat safari along the river, offering a unique perspective of wildlife viewing from the water. Expect close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and Nile monitor lizards basking on the banks. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy spotting species like the African fish eagle, goliath heron, malachite kingfisher, and Boehm’s bee-eater. Primates such as blue monkeys, baboons, and black-and-white colobus monkeys are also frequently seen in the riverine forests.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Nyerere National Park
After breakfast, you'll head out for a full-day game drive through the vast plains and woodlands of Nyerere National Park. Alternatively, you can opt for morning and afternoon game drives with a relaxing break in between. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed at Tagalala, located in the heart of the park, known for its hot springs and scenic landscapes.
Throughout the day, you'll explore various habitats supporting a wide range of wildlife. Common sightings include elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and wildebeest. Keep your eyes peeled for predators like lions, and enjoy the rich birdlife that makes this park a paradise for ornithologists.

Day 3: Transfer to Mikumi National Park – Afternoon Game Drive
After breakfast, depart Nyerere and drive to Mikumi National Park, the most accessible park in Southern Tanzania. You may carry a packed lunch or arrive in time for a sit-down lunch at your accommodation.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive through Mikumi’s expansive Mkata floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti due to its open grasslands and abundant wildlife. Sightings often include elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeest, with occasional glimpses of lions lounging under acacia trees or on termite mounds.

Day 4: Transfer to Ruaha National Park – Afternoon Safari Experience
Begin your day with an early breakfast, then proceed with a scenic transfer to Ruaha National Park, a spectacular and remote destination known for its raw, untouched wilderness. Located in a transitional zone between Eastern and Southern African ecosystems, Ruaha boasts impressive biodiversity.
Upon arrival, you'll explore the park with an introductory game drive. The Great Ruaha River is the park’s lifeline, especially during the dry season, drawing in large concentrations of animals. Wildlife you may encounter includes elephant herds, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of antelope species like sable, roan, greater kudu, and eland. Big cats such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs are frequently spotted, as well as smaller predators like servals and caracals.

Day 5: Walking Safari and Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
This morning, you'll experience Ruaha on foot with a 2–3-hour walking safari, guided by an armed ranger and expert tracker. This is a rare opportunity to observe wildlife and nature up close while learning about animal tracks, plants, and the ecosystem.
As you walk quietly through the bush, there's a chance of encountering elephant and buffalo herds in their natural setting. You’ll also get to admire the park’s iconic baobab trees and the seasonal waterways, which attract a variety of animals. After the walk, continue with a game drive through different parts of the park in search of predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and hyenas.

Day 6: Return to Dar es Salaam – End of Safari
